Joint operation sees 384kg of cocaine seized, two charged
Here’s the inside scoop on our joint operation with ACT Policing, NSW Police Force and Australian Federal Police, which saw 384 kilograms of cocaine seized and two men charged with drug importation offences. In June, our officers at the Sydney Container Examination Facility intercepted this excavator which arrived from South Africa. An X-ray revealed a number of anomalies with the excavator, and after digging a little deeper, officers found 384 kilograms of cocaine concealed inside. This volume of cocaine has a street value of approximately $144 million and thanks to joint efforts with our law enforcement colleagues, we were able to disrupt this syndicate and stop this harmful substance from infiltrating our bordersFor more on this story, visit:https://newsroom.abf.gov.au/releases/joint-operation-sees-384kg-of-cocaine-seized-two-chargedPosted by Australian Border Force on Monday, July 15, 2019
